My Army fought BOKO HARAM with no equipment–Chief of Defence Staff Badeh

Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (retd.)
The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (retd.), has said the Army he headed was one with no equipment.
The former Chief of Defence Staff made the statement while delivering a valedictory speech at a pulling out parade organised in his honour at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja, on Thursday.
He said, “Permit me to also add here that the nation’s militaries are equipped and trained in peace time for the conflicts they expect to confront in the future. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience as a nation.
“Over the years, the military was neglected and under-equipped to ensure the survival of certain regimes, while other regimes, based on advice from some foreign nations, deliberately reduced the size of the military and underfunded it.
“Unfortunately, our past leaders accepted such recommendations without appreciating our peculiarities as a third world military, which does not have the technological advantage that could serve as force multipliers and compensate for reduced strength.

Optical Illusions
The organizational mechanisms of vision are best demonstrated by illusions. Illusions illustrate that perception in a creative construction that the brain makes in interpreting visual data ....Learning does not prevent us from being taken in by these illusions.
— Eric Kandel
We do not see the world as it really is. What we perceive is a creative construction of the mind. Each of us generates subjective reality. Emotional states have a profound influence on the reality we create. For example, the wisdom of a first lapse is appraised differently before it happens than afterwards. Learning does not spare us from repeating the painful mistake of relapse, because the Psyche is continually taken in by an illusion: The Soul Illusion.
The images below - while limited to the visual modality - illustrate that perception is an active construction of the mind rather than a valid representation of objective reality.

A Kenyan, who was the first African woman to attain first class honours in aerospace engineering, may drop out of her masters programme over school fees.
Fiona Jepleting's father said the Nandi government, which sponsored her studies at University of Hertfordshire, accumulated Sh2 million in fee arrears.
"We received an email from the university in UK asking us to pay the fees before July 17 or else Fiona will not be enrolled for the next semester,'' Mark Sang told the Star on phone on Friday.
Saying the government has not responded to his letters on the issue, Sang appealed for help from well-wishers.

How to Respect Your Husband: 7 Helpful Hints
And let
the wife see that she respects her husband. That’s what Paul wrote in
the second half of Ephesians 5:33. Respect is something that I believe
has diminished throughout the years. So many marriages begin well and end poorly because men and women are not properly trained in how to treat one another. God has specific roles for the husband and the wife and when we stay within those roles we have happy marriages and good family
lives. Respect is something that should be mutual between all members
of the family, but for this article I want to give some helpful hints
for wives on how to respect their husbands. (For a related article read “How to Love Your Wife: 7 Helpful Tips”)
